Dolpan Seoul BBQ is rated 4.4 out of 5 stars, based on 47 reviews!
Had a bbq combo sampler and a potato pancake. Good and nice service. Great to have a good Korean bbq place in richmond.
Love their meat platter! Huge size for its price. The seafood pancake was a bit on the soft side, would have preferred it crispier.
Very decent authentic Korean BBQ. They BBQ it for you too. Quality meat. And the hot server is a bonus!
Real Koreans will eat at Dolpan time and time again, because real recognize real. I am Korean and this is some real Korean food. Amazing food complemented by five star service and chill Seoul vibes. 10/10 would recommend.
Food is good, service is ok. Tried the lunch BBQ combo, meat is good. But officially it's not bbq, the server just stir fry it for you at the table. Will go back to try other things on the menu.
A solid choice for kbbq but nothing special (I would want to try their matcha pork though)
Pork and beef sampler 800 grams $65 (Pork belly, mok sal, chadol, kalbi)
Personally liked the pork better than the beef because it was more tender
Potato pancake 8/10 $9
The dipping sauce is nice and tart and goes well and the potato is crispy but it's pretty plain
Idk but my friends really like Korean pancakes
4 bowls of rice (its rice) $1.50
Egg volcano 6.5/10 $3.50
Its meh it's pretty fluffy in size but not yummy but it has pores and isn't soft
Not a lot of flavour expect on the top
Service is really nice because they grill it for you and it's a small place so don't take more than 6 people max( only 1 or 2 / 6 person tables) best number is 4 peeps
Reservations are good because they are pretty small
It's in a plaza so pretty good parking!
Side dishes are refillable which is nice!
Grill is interesting because it's not built in but portable but takes up half the table
Worth the drive to Richmond!
The food here tastes amazing!
We got the Kimchi Fried Rice with Cheese and sides, it was part of the lunch special. The waitress was really nice and helpful and was very accommodating.
The brown rice tea was really delicious as well.
The decor was really good too.
I loved the metal cups and metal chopsticks they provide.
Will definitely return here! A+
We went as a group of 5 and had their lunch set ($20 per person) which gave us 4 different cuts with side dishes, rice and seaweed soup. We also ordered potato pancake and soybean soup as add-on. At the end of the meal, we were stuffed. The pancake was mediocre but everything else was great. The servers will refill your side dishes even without asking and everything is cooked for you. The only thing is that gratuity of 18% was automatically added to your bill (I think the owner said because we were a group of 4+? I can't remember). They definitely earned their tip with all the cooking and refilling the side dishes but I can't recall if this was mentioned on their menu....
Good food at a high price. Slightly a bit low on the quantity end, but has high quality meats. Food is prepared right in front of you if you choose the grill, great experience.
The dish they bring out with all your sides is nice and plentiful. I always get the spicy tteokbokki with cheese and it's very delicious.
Came back again and took two of my friends. This place is still awesome! Delicious food and always great presentation. The staff are super friendly and like any standard Korean bbq place, they cook for you!
What I suggest to order:
Korean Army Base Soup
1-2 orders of pork belly (to start with! Order more if you can eat more!)
Spicy ribs with melted cheese
This is my standard order and I'm always satisfied 100%. Only quip I have is that it seems some of the spicyness has been brought down a couple notches. I'll make sure to see if they can add the spice back next time I go!
Great pork belly meats!
Great place for Korean BBQ. Lunch menu before 3:30 hits the spot with variety and price. (Under $15). Top marks for food. The little things are done well. Great side dishes. Soup has surprising lots of meat. Top marks for service as well. On time and super friendly. Finally the washroom is very clean. Good indication of care for this place. Keep it up. Will come again for sure.
excellent service/ first time at korean bbq we didn't have to do any work
small, intimate , modern atmosphere /not recommended for strollers since it's too small but it is doable
lots of parking in the area
average price for Korean bbq / good for sharing & split costs
if I had to choose 1 dish : egg volcano
would i go back ? Yes
I love how they cook your food in front of you! Great service as well, I will come back again. I would give full 5 stars if restaurant was bigger. Kinda small.
It was a rainy Friday evening and we dashed into this joint without reservations. Luckily, a table for four freed up within a few minutes! The meat was delicious with the dipping sauces, and the egg volcano was delectable. The best part was that we didn't smell like meat when we left.
Holy moly where do I start. We came right when they opened at 5 for dinner. We made reservations via Yelp. Got a free soda from checking in on yelp. You might wanna think about making a reservation ahead of time because it does get pretty busy later on. They have tons of vents, so don't worry about it getting stuffy or smelling too much like meat everywhere.
They cook the food for you! They know how to cook it best, just trust them. It's worth it.
Our server was awesome he took care of everything and he was super nice, he deserves a raise that's how nice he was. Their service was amazing. They got their menu with pictures! We ordered a pork and beef platter, an egg volcano, a soybean soup, couple of steamed rice, and a couple drinks. All of which were great! Side dishes were also awesome!
The platter: had the option between well done or medium rare. One of our meat pieces had a medium length hair pierced through it (too long to be mine, to short to be my friends) but our server was extremely professional about it, brought it back to the supervisor and apologized (a lot) and gave us a discount. We weren't mad about the hair at all, we know it happens. Our meat platter only a couple pieces had more fat than meat (which is also normal) overall it was great!!
Egg: delicious. Don't be scared it might be a different color at the bottom that's just the other ingredients! Definitely get it!
Drinks: Melona Soju Cocktail, approx 355-400ml, and SUPER good! Definitely a fun yummy drink. It has that melona melon color, so my pictures don't really do it justice.
Would definitely recommend! All the food we had was PLENTY for 3 people.
Food and service were great! Will definitely eat here again.
Their BBQ lunch set menu was a good deal but their hot pot soup was very mediocre. Would come back again to try their BBQ menu sets.
Had a great time dining here in contrast to what others had experienced! On the pricier side but the meat was grilled to perfection. Ventilation could be improved however.
Most authentic Korean food I've had in a while! Really loved the atmosphere in the restaurant.
It was an amazing experience and they had some authentic food. The BBQ was very good too.
Authentic Korean BBQ place, I like how I don't have to cook or grill the food myself. Space is limited but it creates more intimacy. The menu has changed since I went last time, less side dish now but still good variety and unlimited top up. Service is consistently good, no complaints at all. Only down side is the price being on a higher side.
This is our go to Korean BBQ place in Richmond. The manager is very dedicated to the restaurant and the food is good. The price can get up there, but it's worth it for the food. We originally came here because of the army stew. It was soooo good. It was enough to fill us up! But we decided to try oit a little bit of bbq just because the smell from our neighbouring table was driving is crazy. We got the most expensive beef on the menu... but it was honestly not worth it. We went back a second time with our family and ordered the army stew again and some cheaper cuts. It was much more affordable and delicious!! We'll continue to come back unless service starts to go down or quality of food goes down!
So here's my updated rating after our second visit there. We arrived just around 8:30pm and were seated immediately. We again ordered the pork and beef sampler, 2 rice, and an order of sweet and savory bbq ribs. Everything was delicious although the bbq ribs were too sweet for my husband's taste, it was perfect for me! The side dishes were all good, and they were always nice enough to give us more refills each time (I learned from my first experience to just ask!). Beer on tap was also good, we had to ask what kind it was. The servers were very attentive, almost each of them was on hand at one point to help us out and they again honored the "free soda" deal when you check in on Yelp. As for the price, it's a little on the expensive side but the food is worth it if you know what you're ordering. Also, the ventilation system is good that you don't leave smelling a lot like the kitchen even after all the smoke from the grill. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is that the restaurant hours don't reflect the time that's posted. We saw staff decline potential customers a little over 9pm as they said they did the last call already. Kinda almost like what happened the first time. Probably 'cause everyone was busy attending to the 10-person table that came in before them. Anyway, I think we found our go-to Korean BBQ place now. I hope they stay in business for years to come!
I liked this place! Went tonight to celebrate my sister's birthday with family. Ordered the pork and beef bbq set, the seafood pancake, the bulgogi beef stew, spicy Korean ricecake and a yogurt soju. The servers cooked the meat for you which was a nice touch and not something that I am used to in Vancouver. The Korean side dishes were delicious and kept on flowing endlessly. Everything tasted good and we we're happy they were able to accommodate the 7 (via reservation) of us even though the place isn't very big. Meal didn't break the bank either. Will definitely return.
Service was great. The bbq pork belly is a must to try. The volcano egg not so much.
- Yummy korean BBQ -
We came here as a group of 4, and we ordered 2 servings of BBQ set A and the army base hotpot to share. The army base hotpot wasn't that special in my opinion, there were like 6 small pieces of rice noodle sticks (so like 3 long ones and they cut it into half), sausage, spam, bean sprouts, small pieces of chicken, slices of cheese, and instant noodle in there. The soup was quite spicy, and there weren't enough cheese.
The pork BBQ was delicious, and I like their dipping salt. They also give you four side dishes to share, 2 seaweed soup, and 4 bowls of rice. Overall it was a good meal.
Our total was $66 after tax, so it's alright for four.
There was a yelp check-in deal to unlock free soft drinks, and they kindly asked me which one I want. They seem a bit puzzled at first about what I was showing them on the phone lol! Since they gave us huge cup of water, they didn't need to refill any water. They also cook the BBQ for you, so that's quite nice.
This place used to be POSH hotpot, so everything was so familiar to me. The lighting was good (semi dark), and there weren't a lot of tables in the restaurant so it wasn't crowded or anything.
I like this restaurant despite the fact that others call this place pricy. I think it's alright for lunch.
Overall this is a good place to go with an unique experience. Note that this a Korean bbq place that you are nirmally use to and the meat is on the pricy end. You mostly pay for the service as they cook the meat for you at the table. We also ordered the egg volcano that I didn't really cared for due to the egg being over cooked under the the first layer but the Naengnyeon( Korean cold noodle dish) was really good with mustard and vinagure especially in the summer heat. Recommended to go but don't expect a typical NA Korean bbq experience.
Like this place, nice food and place hang out with friends!!!
We had an absolutely great time here, and the food was fantastic. Loved the modern feeling and the K-Pop background music. The only downside was that the prices of the meats were really high, so we didn't end up getting any grill items at all.
I ordered the soju melona popsicle cocktail, which was truly amazing and I wish I knew how to make it at home. I also got the kimchi jigae, which was perfect. Extremely spicy in the best way.
We also got the Gamjajeon, which was fabulous, and the others in my group shared a hot pot. The hot pot was great but huge, too much food even for the three of them! We were all stuffed but very happy. The price was pretty high, but if we came back we would probably only order one hot pot for the four of us and it wouldn't be so bad.
Dolpan Seoul is better than any of the Korean restaurants I have at home. I wish I could visit again!
Been to Dolpan about 8 times the past couple months. It is absolutely the best Korean restaurant in the GVA. It ranks up there with some of my favourites in NYC and LA. The taste, selection & quality of the meats is impressive, first timers recommend the chadolbaegi and pork, grilled (actually prefer over bbq) to perfection. So delicious. And the Korean stews (Gigae) authentic as it comes. Friendly staff, great vibe, nice proportions and good pricepoint. Highly recommended to anyone in or passing through Richmond.
Great food, great service!
I've been here countless of times with all of my friends and we always have to order at LEAST the BBQ and the army base hotpot :P.
Been here so many times and I can safely say that this is my go to place for Korean food. The employees are friendly and super attentive, and you don't have to worry about playing with the grill because they cook it for you!
They've included a lot of newer dishes/lunch items since I've been here but I think that's one of the better deals if you're not looking to indulge so much.
The food is great but what makes me come back is the service. I never feel unwelcome and the owner is very easy-going. He always makes sure to explain the dishes to us and even show us how to wrap our samgyeopsal (pork belly) properly or how to make somaek (soju w/ beer).
Definitely will recommend this to everyone. The ingredients are fresh and it's a great place for drinking with your friends over some alcohol lol.
Tip: always book reservations if you plan to go for dinner, it gets really busy.
First time try, nice environment, tiny relaxing place. People are nice here and very helpful to refill snacks for you.
Will recommend you to try.
Went to eat there with some friends and the server does the cooking for you which is new but cool. Meat was fresh and tasted good. Got the pork belly.
My boyfriend and I ventured out to Richmond from Vancouver because we heard it was really authentic. This was the best Korean I've had in Vancouver. I don't eat meat any more but I can say the pork looked as good as it did in Korea. My boyfriend couldn't get enough. I also ordered us the Haemul pajeon that was overloaded with seafood. I highly recommend the place!
Had the BBQ meat and it was great. Servers were nice and the overall atmosphere was lively.
I went there last Saturday with my friend. We both love korean food, we wanted to try dolpan since they've just opened. It was an awesome experience. There was a wait, but they just took my cellnumber and called us when the table was ready. All servers were cheerful and helpful with the menu. Even , Paul the owner was great. He even suggested which banchan to eat with beef and talked to us about korean streetfood.
I love the chairs, feels like you're in korea. Will definitely go back.
Really yummy and new style Korean BBQ in Richmond, nice service and reasonable price, good to go!
We've eaten at Dolpan 3 times now and will keeping coming back for the delicious authentic Korean dishes.
I was surprised to see some of the other reviews because from our family's experience, the BBQ menu has a wonderful selection of the highest quality of meats. You can pick and choose a la cart- different layers and cuts of pork belly and beef. It also comes with an assortment of sides, a delicious soup, and a unique Egg Volcano dish (which we've never had before and love).
Some of the other dishes we tried and LOVE were a variety of large sharing soups and the crispy seafood pancake.
We highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for quality and authentic Korean cuisine. It is leaning towards the pricey side for the BBQ selection, but we think it's well worth it since you are getting the highest cuts of meat. We will definitely be back for more. Thanks Dolpan!
We got there with no reservation but didn't have to wait that long. Food and service was great. A lot of people said it was kind of expensive but I shared with 4 people, the army base hotpot, fried rice and the egg bowl which came up to $24 per person. Would definitely be coming back to try out their other dishes.
New favourite Korean BBQ place, the food is a bit on the pricy side, but quality is definitely good.
Some of the most delicious and fun Korean food I've had. This place is a must visit, in my opinion it's better than Sura! They do the grilling for you too! Flavors were good, but the Pork Bone Soup was a bit on the salty side.
We came, no reservation but our timing was right. They got us a table for three and we got tea right away. When we ordered, we had some questions and they were very helpful. They helped us order our dishes and kept offering refills for our side dishes.
We ordered the Korean army stew for about $33 which is good for two or three people. It came with side dishes of potato and kimchi and sprouts and pickles. It also came with a bowl of steamed eggs which was light and fluffy and just heavenly. My favourite dish that night. We also got two bowls of rice with this dish.
In addition we wanted to order some Korean pancake. We ordered the seafood pancake.
I have to admit it was fun eating here. KTB and I and our Japanese Food Critique had fun with each dish. I would call this happy food to eat. Why? The Army stew is made from spam and wieners. Those are fun ingredients! How can it not be fun?
The seafood pancake wasn't quite as crispy on the bottom as I'd like but it was tasty!
Overall? It was pretty good. Next time I want to try the pork belly dishes.
So a solid 4 stars to start with. Maybe with a bottle of Soju it will be 5 stars. I think this place is here to stay. I wish them all the success!!!

PS. Korean food is best served with Soju. Why? Just watch those Korean dramas where they're sitting under an orange tent!
Yay - finally found a Korean restaurant that is different from others! My partner and I decided to check this place out...although it was Valentine's day and we didn't have reservations. We went during prime time so we were told it was 50 minutes wait time which we decided to wait it out...definitely worth it though!!
The servers were speedy - provided us with tea and menu less than a minute after we sat down! Bravo to that! Didn't even need to signal them or get their attention...they just took care of us! Fun restaurant as we ordered the soju bomb combo and they gave us these adorable little glass cups with directions on it! We really wanted to buy it LOL! It was cute cause one of the server was helpful and taught us the right way of proportioning our soju bombs and this neat chopstick trick!
Food was delicious! We ordered the army hotpot and kimchi fried rice with cheese - so full! It came with side dishes and this fluffy egg volcano. LOVED it! It was unique! We finished everything which I would say its the perfect amount for 2 people if you're hungry! Price was quite average for a Korean restaurant so it was no surprise to us. Hands down...I would choose this place over any other Korean place if you want good food with average price!
I would come back for sure and suggest this place to anyone!! :)
Came here because we missed Seoul and Korean BBQ. This place was busy for a Wednesday night. We were told when we called the night before that they don't take reservations anymore, and is a first in first served basis. We arrived around 6ish and were shown upstairs as the main floor was full. There are five tables upstairs and we had one of the last two. Needless to say, it was completely full within minutes. No joke.
The set up at Dolpan reminds me very much of Hanam Pig in Seoul (a popular & reliable chain). The grill plates are very similar, as well as the seating with storage for your valuables. Even the logo is a pig.
We ordered the honeycomb samgyeopsal (pork belly) and Dolpan premium galbi (boneless short rib). Minimum order for BBQ is two. An assortment of banchan, one egg volcano and a soybean soup comes standard with BBQ items. We also added the kimchi fried rice.
Similar to BBQs in Seoul, you do not need to grill your own food here as the server does it all. Just sit back and eat. I must admit that the pork belly was cut thick and cooked perfectly. That's the way it should be served. I wasn't a fan of the galbi as I was expecting a thicker cut of beef rib. I just wish that they didn't slice it thin. I think it would have been better as a thicker cut. I'm paying for a premium beef at a premium price. I would have even paid a little more for a thick cut. The meats were not marinated which is how it's usually done Korea.
The egg volcano was great. I had it many times before as part of set meals and I never really enjoyed it. But it is very well done here, I would actually order it on its own. The soup was nice as it had the strong flavour of fermented soybean that I really enjoy. The kimchi fried rice was lacking in seasoning. It was a little bland and a bit greasy. All the banchan that came with the dishes were great. The restaurant can be a a bit more generous with the lettuce as we love wrapping our grilled meats. That being said, the servers were quick to bring us more lettuce and banchan when requested.
Service was great if I forgot to mention. Our server was doing it all with the five tables he had upstairs. All in all, it was a good experience. A solid 3.5 stars, but I rounded up to 4 because it's as authentic a Seoul BBQ experience that can be had in Vancouver given fire & building codes here...can't blame the restaurant for that. However, I must say, the quality of meat is much better for the same price in Seoul...oh, how I miss the Jeju black pork! I'm willing to pay higher prices here if they offer comparable quality. Will definitely be back to try their other meat selections.
